A couple of months back, the New York Times ran an article about the death of the picture book. This was a surprise to a number of people, and PW talked to some of them. What the original article missed was that the ways of presenting picture books are shifting just as they are for all other forms. Online material, tie-ins, and apps have displaced some expensive print material, but pictures pre-dated the written word and they won't be extinct any time soon.
