SFWA Puts Nightshade Books on Probation

Around noon today, SFWA President John Scalzi posted that the publisher was on probation. There being nothing wrong with this, given the admitted facts in the case, it does impact potential SFWA members more than any other group. Their memberships will be delayed a year if Nightshade sets its house in order. If not, it may be longer.

Night Shade Books

It seems Night Shade Books has failed some of its authors. Yesterday, Publishers Weekly summarized the complaints of several authors; today the publisher responds. Essentially, they got big fast, and they couldn't handle it.
