Copyright Wars

The artist often known as Prince is locked in a battle with YouTube over violations of his copyrights. He has every right to object to infringements, but given the ongoing greater discussion over the rights of creators versus the rights of consumers, academicians, and other artists, it's interesting to watch how his videos go up and come down, plus the reaction of his fans when they do get taken down.

That's that's one of the ones that's to the point, not too gross, and doesn't contain copyrighted material. There are more if you care to search. Sometimes I think Madonna has made the better choice: she has her own channel and a message to YouTubers. Yes, the music industry is a business—and so is publishing. "Ya gotta know the territory..."
