Once upon a time, YouTube was free space and foolery, but now a number of the pieces, like the trailer from The Ant Bully, which is a succinct little short story on its own, have been popping up with the blessings of the parent company. In fact a number of features, suitably roughed-up, are trolling for interest. Take the forthcoming Ratatouille, which makes no bones about whose it is: Disney's. Nor does the trailer for the currently-in-theaters Cars. Then there is soon-to-be-released Happy Feet from Warner's, which looks like someone had a high concept idea based on March of the Penguins. One can only hope that big-bucks commercialism doesn't displace such finds as Dracula's Guest. All of these appear to have been intended for web release but they do leave you wondering: How do you tell what is pirated and when do you give up and stop caring?
