Victor Hugo

Victor Hugo, author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which has been made into a number of movies, and Les Miserables, which became a musical, was born February 26, 1802. In his own time, he was so famous and honored an author that when he died in 1885 more than two million people attended his state funeral.
